The Masonic Hotel was reerected in 1931 after the great earthquake. The whole
towncenter of Napier consists of Art Deco buildings although until the 80th old buildings have been
replaced. But then the great cultural treasure has been seen. Today all the buildings look as they did in the 30th.

Das Masonic Hotel wurde, wie die gesamte Stadt Napier nach dem Beben 1931 im Art Deco Stil
wieder aufgebaut. Noch heute besteht die gesamte Innenstadt aus Art Deco Gebäuden. Obwohl bis in die 80er
Jahre kein Interesse am Art Deco bestand und einige Gebäude abgerissen wurden, erkannte man dann den großen
Wert der Gebäude, sowohl kulturhistorisch aber insbesondere für den Tourismus. Heute erstrahlen alle
Gebäude in altem Glanz.
